Curriculum at a Glance
At AYA, caring and experienced teachers work together to build a solid academic foundation that allows students to thrive in their elementary and middle school years. With a focus on the future, academic experiences are complemented with classes and experiences that prepare and motivate students for success in high school and college, in their careers, and beyond.
In the early grades, teachers work closely alongside students to build foundational skills through exploration, play, and with academic units that are engaging and challenging. The well-aligned college-preparatory curriculum allows all students to take courses in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, art, physical education, and Spanish.
In addition to core academic subjects, students take classes in leadership, etiquette, public speaking, and Bible. These classes are taught by AYA teachers and also include guest lectures from many experts within the Atlanta community. Additionally, field trips, special events, the Civil Rights and College tour, weekly chapel, Career Week, and the Philanthropy Program add to the rich fabric of the AYA experience.
